Current Status of the Department
The Department of Education has seen the dedicated efforts of various chairmans, including Wu Ming-Ching, Zhang Yu-Cheng, Chen Shou-Gong, Li Zong-Wei, Zeng Jin-Da, Cai Yi-Xiong, Huang Ya-Wen, Zhou Yu-Xiu, Wu Li-Jun, Xu Chao-Sheng, Zhang Yu-Wen, Chen Bi-Xiang, Lin Wei-Wen, and along with the collective contributions of all faculty and students. Currently, approximately 2,000 graduates from our department are engaged in educational fields.
The department currently comprises four undergraduate classes across all four years. Additionally, there are four master's degree programs, including the "Educational Innovation and Evaluation" and "Life Education" programs, as well as evening in-service programs. In total, there are around 300 students. The current chairman of department is Professor Yong-he Huang.

Our diverse and comprehensive curriculum, aligning with the latest curriculum standard and offering additional courses for the development of a second specialization, can provide more flexible for further development and can contribute significantly to the cultivation of excellent elementary school teachers and research talents.
We prioritize internationalization and connections with the industry to enhance our students' competitiveness in the job market.
Our students exhibit a high degree of identification with the department, and they actively participate in extracurricular activities.
Based on the passing down through generations, we aim to preserve our excellent educational culture while staying attuned to the pulse of education and strengthening our connections within related industries. We aspire to broaden our students' global perspectives, cultivate suitable educational professionals that meet the demands of society's human resources structure, and enhance the employability of our students.
History of department
Founded in August of 1987, our departments were initially divided into several divisions: Special Education for Children with Intellectual Disabilities, Fine Arts Education, Physical Education, and Counseling. Approximately 2,000 graduates from our department have since worked in various educational jobs.
▋ Reorganization of department
Each divisons became independent departments in 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1998, respectively, leading to the closing down of those divisions mentioned above. Starting from the 1999, our department divided into an Administrative Division and a Curriculum and Instruction Division.
▋ Holistic education talent development
The department no longer divides students by divisions from their first to fourth years since 2000, emphasizing the cultivation of holistic education talents. In 2004, the department was renamed to "Department of National Education."
▋ Expansion into related educational fields
In the 2009, the department was renamed to "Department of Education," expanding the career possibilities of graduates into various related education fields, such as textbook writing, editing children's books and publications, computer and instructional media development, program and administrative planning for daycare centers, educational training, and instructional material design, among others.

▋ Establishment
In the 2003, the department started admitting students to its master's programs.
▋ Establishment of Innovative Master's Program
Starting from the 2006, Our department established the "Master's Program in Educational Business Innovation" (abbreviated as Innovative Master's Program) in order to pass down the excellent academic culture in the field of national education for in-service students at night.
▋ Opening of the master Program in Kinmen area
Due to the lack of a master's program for the professional development needs of educational personnel in the Kinmen area, the "Master's Program in Educational Administration for In-Service Professionals" (abbreviated as Kinmen Program) was established in 2006 in order to provide professional development opportunities for education personnel in the Kinmen region.
▋ Synchronized renaming with the department
In 2010,aligning with renaming of department, master's programs were synchronized in name to "Master's Program in Educational Innovation and Evaluation" and "Master's Program in Educational Innovation and Evaluation for In-Service program", respectively.
▋ Alignment with school transformation and societal integration
In 2011, in response to the school's transformation, our department merged with the "Institute of Life Education" in our university. As a result, two master's programs were added: the "Master's Program in Life Education" and the "In-service Master's Program in Life Education."
